Charlie the Coach

In 2014 I moved to London from Edinburgh to pursue acting and comedy while supporting myself working in Media, Publishing and Communications.

It became clear to me that effective communication and engagement needed to be nurtured in the corporate environment. With over 16 years experience as an improviser, I have successfully shaped methods regularly used by comedians and actors to create bespoke workshops for companies throughout the UK and internationally.

Jollity Coaching is the new evolution of my improv for business training which provides tailored coaching for teams and individuals both in-person and online.

As an improv comedy teacher I run independent courses and also teach for Hoopla Impro and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. I have trained with a number of practitioners including Clowns Without Borders in Trauma Informed Practice.

For more information about my life in comedy, see below...

"I have done several one-to-one online sessions with Charlie. She managed to adapt improv games for the two of us and create an engaging environment. I enjoyed every minute of it, thank you very much, Charlie! I hope to do improv with you again!"

Charlie the Comedian

As a Comedian I have written for BBC Scotland, BBC Radio 4, Hat Trick Productions and was Tour Manager for Griff Rhys Jones. You'll often see my face pop up in sketches for the BBC and online.

I've taken four solo shows to the Edinburgh Fringe. My latest show, Picnic,  sold out in Glasgow, Leicester, VAULT Fest and at the Soho Theatre. It was officially recommended by the British Comedy Guide and was in The Telegraph's Best Shows and Top Jokes of the Fringe.

In 2023 I was a finalist in the prestigious Funny Women Stage Award and the Leicester Square Theatre's Sketch Off.

After gaining an MA in Italian and Modern History at the University of

St Andrews with an integrated year abroad in Venice, I studied Writing and Producing Comedy with Channel 4 at the NFTS under Bill Dare (Dead Ringers). I've also trained with clown master Philippe Gaulier and I'm a member of the award-winning Weirdos Comedy Collective.
